Election Art

If one thing comes out of the current political environment, it will be empowering and beautiful art. So many artists, illustrators, and typographers have channeled their creativity into sharing their emotions and motivating Americans.

Here are some notable examples that I wanted to share. They deserve so much credit for using their voices and talent.

That Rug

Guys, I'll admit it. I have an obsession. Thank goodness it's completely sane- I think. After looking through my massive Pinterest board of interior design, I realized one item kept popping up. A rug.

Over and over and over again. It's beautiful and white and cozy. Why not?

It shows up 20+ times. There are a few varieties, but same rug basically. I eventually realized I was obsessed. From there, the regular routine happened. I convince myself I have to have it. I start to believe my current rug is inadequate. I search for the rug. And search. I don't have any children or pets and live in a small apartment; there is no better time to have a white shag rug. 

It's been found. I will say it over and over again, I love the internet. Thank you Rugs USA. Thank you for my lovely rug. Once I get some nice photos, I'll share. For now, just know that my feet are happy. My brain is too. I have peace.

The beginning

Welcome to Hello JvG. If you haven't figured it out yet – I'm JvG. It's not an acronym or strange foreign word. Given that there are a million Jennifer's in the world (see beautiful infographic for proof) I've become known by my initials.

So here's the plan for this blog: a place to ramble about the art and design things I find intriguing. A place to do some DIY projects. A place to work on my writing skills. Hopefully you'll like what I have in store. It's bound to evolve, but that is part of any designers life. My tastes change and hopefully anyone who stumbles upon this little project will be intrigued by the journey. 

For the future: there will definitely be a tutorial on flower crowns.
